Mrs Mason Loves the Footy!
Eliza Parer and Molly Windsor spoke to a new Ashgrove teacher and found she had a passion for footy.
Mrs Mason is a new teacher at our school. She started on day one of Term three.
Apart from being a new teacher it seems she loves AFL. Mrs Mason likes watching it on T.V., but she loves going to the game. When she is there, she likes eating hot-dogs because they're tidier than meat pies.
If you think Mrs Mason is a softy, try meeting her at the footy. Mrs Mason has no hesitation in barracking for her team and telling the umpires what she thinks.
One time Mrs Mason went to a West Coast Eagles vs Brisbane Lions game. She put on her West Coast Eagles scarf and they won. On the way back to her car, everyone gave her strange looks and she has never worn any team colours since.
It's hard to believe that Mrs Mason once hated football. She changed her mind when her husband dragged her to her first game in 1998 and now Mrs Mason is addicted.
A.S.H - ASHGROVE SPORTS HIGHLIGHTS.
Tim Bickerton, William Lancashire, Scott McCarthy and Alex Milliken discovered why Ashgrove teams do so well.
Each week the Ashgrove sport teams travel around Ashgrove to play hard and tough touch, league, cricket, softball and netball.
All the teams do so well. They have achieved at the highest levels of regional sport. The question is why do they achieve so much?
It seems, the answer is the coaches don't yell, they encourage their teams with firm but quiet talk. They are passionate about their sport and if the teams do not win they train harder. The children want to play hard and well, and they want to achieve.
It's not all about winning. It's also about having fun and to get fit.
That's why they do so well!

Electrician finds new life at Ashgrove
Laura McGrath talked to Rodger Morgan about his past.
Mr Rodger Morgan was first employed in electricity for 34 years until his redundancy in 1996.
Splitting his time between two schools as a high school groundsman, he managed to work for three days each week. That continued for about twelve months until Ashgrove State School offered him a job as a Janitor/Groundsman. "It's not easy being groundsman," Mr Morgan said. "You have to use a lot of equipment, and you need technology skills."
Most of all, he enjoys his work because he loves working with children.

Monday through to Thursday, we interviewed Murray Laing for a full update of handball. Murray is an expert at handball and loves the game.
Murray says, "You have to hit a ball to your opposition." He also said, "It's a great fun game for all ages." Handball is on Wednesday at 11:15 and 11:30am.
It is on at Ashgrove State School so it's easy to get there. Since Handball started, there has only been one season. Robert Burrows and Michael Tuttuci won the competition beating four other teams. If you are a year 6 or 7 student wanting to sign up ask Handball Fanatic Alex Baird or Handball Genius Murray Laing.
